The 1st Annual Leave No Trace Camporee in the Octoraro District was a great success.

     The staff arrived early Friday to start getting ready for the event. Chris Sellers and Jim Parrett made sure the facilities were in order and prepared for the arrival of the Advisors and Instructors. We poured over the materials and worked late into Friday night to get ready for Saturday morning. The campers started arriving around 8 am and went right to work setting up camp in tent city.
10 am the fun began with an opening flag ceremony and brief instructional from Chris. Then the scouts were split up into dens, Tigers, Wolves and Bears, and Webelos. The instructors took each of their groups in a round robin format to teach them the 6 basic rules of LNT camping, using course material and displays, donated by R.E.I. Sports.
